In this edition of the APN Wire:
Decisions are a hard thing to make sometimes, and since we all have started looking for our new normal there has been a massive wave of analysis paralysis.  It is easy to get nervous about making even the smallest steps when everything seemed life-threatening in the last year.  Layer on the fact that most art pros are typically risk-averse and I think we all have a long way to go before we feel comfortable again.  This edition is all about giving you the info you need to make your next steps with as much confidence as you can.

If you are planning storage then I hope you will check out my latest podcast.  Everyone’s storage is unique, but no matter how many I help plan there are some tried and true topics that come up.  Think through your plans and see how this information can help you move forward and get your storage ready.  Also, I have included some great links to resources that can help you stay current on industry studies about conservation, mount making, and tons of other topics that can inform your processes as everyone’s exhibition schedules start to heat up.

Speaking on conservation there are some fantastic articles about some interesting projects that utilize some uncommon hands-off methods.  It always amazes me how conservators find ways to make thoughtful and minimal decisions that have a massive impact on how we care for and repair irreplaceable objects.

Finally, if you are an art handler looking for work, this issue is for you!  There are people looking for all levels of exhibition, collection, and transport help out there!  Don’t be shy and don’t delay in getting your applications in ASAP!  You could be taking a big leap with a big decision and remember…you can’t get hired unless you apply.
