Greetings from APN,
2023 is almost here and it is time to look toward building something new! Whether it is an innovative process, an ambitious plan, or if you are like some of us, an actual new building…you have to be brave and take a chance. This year has had its ups and downs but you can’t deny that the needle has moved just a bit. This is because we have all leaned into making change possible, and I know I am thankful we have.
There are so many things moving in the right direction. Check out the Mellon Foundation’s latest release of their staff demographic survey to learn about this positive progress. There is still so much to do, but if you plan to kick off a big process, it is helpful to reference where others are. Utilizing AAM and the Getty can help with some well-established benchmarks and strategic partnerships. Understanding what has been done in the past is important to making strides in the future.
Also, finding ways to make progress takes acknowledgment of what has gone wrong in the past. Please take a look at the articles section to see where people are making a stand and taking ownership of the organizations they are working in and building for the future. Sometimes you have to break down barriers to make a change, and sometimes you have to establish them to protect where we are stewards. Be careful when deciding which is most appropriate.
Finally, I want to thank all of you who read this newsletter, listen to my podcast, and allow me to participate in your processes. Art Pro Net is headed towards its fifth year in 2023. Ending this year with so much hope for the future is wonderful, and I truly appreciate all your support. I hope that I can connect with you again in the new year, and I wish everyone a healthy and happy holiday season.
Be Well.
Kelly
