Small Museums are Surviving. James Bennett II reports

In this edition of the APN Wire:
Change has been rippling throughout the museum world over the last few years.  All I have to do is talk to my friends and colleagues to hear the good and the bad results from everything that is happening.  I would like to think that the world is recovering every day, but really it goes forward and backward…hopefully mostly forward.  All we can do is speak up for ourselves and keep putting good work out there.

This edition is all about those of you striving to do good work and keep this industry growing in the right direction.  From the amazing work happening at The Broad with their Diversity Apprenticeship Program to the in-depth look at conservation of iconic works in Santa Barbara, there are some amazing things happening in our community.  Sign up to attend the events in the Bucket List section and be inspired by some fantastic art pros.

Speaking of conservation, I hope you will check out my latest podcast.  My milestones and benchmarks in conservation planning will help you with your basic exhibition planning process.  It contains information you can count on even if you cannot consult with a conservator on every decision. There are some points of preventative care that you can always count on.

Finally, if you are looking for new opportunities or ways to make your situation better, check out the articles section to hear new voices from art pros all over.  The pandemic has created a chorus of new voices searching for new ways to make positive change.  I hope this gives you hope for where we can end up.  I also hope that you will stay positive and keep working toward a better standard for all of us.  Be well!
