Matisses found and returned

In this edition of the APN Wire:

These last couple of weeks have been heavy with gains and losses.  I have gained some amazing new connections and colleagues.  I have also lost true mentors and some sense of stability with the very presence of COVID.  In fact, several great artists in a lot of different fields have passed over the last weeks, and I find it makes me reflective. I hope everyone reading this is healthy and well in this unbalanced time.

In searching for articles and resources I found this theme of lost and found continued through the headlines.  From the tenuous nature of cultural heritage sites in war-torn countries to the recovery of things taken, almost taken, and hidden away.  This issue came together in alarming trends.  Check out what is happening in our community and what people are doing to fight loss and recover from hardship.

I also wanted to share some resources and highlights that I have found.  Check out the CBS interview of a truly missed mentor, Chuck Close, and see him speak to many of the points that made an impact on my career.  Also, check out the Art Sentry Security System.  If you are familiar with this system I would love to connect.  I just found out about it and would like to know more about your experience.

Finally, if you are looking for work in handling and installation, there are a ton of positions being posted all over California.  From my old gig at the BAMPFA to positions in the LA area, there are a ton of opportunities for people looking to make that next move.  I hope you all get out there and find new adventures. Above all…be safe and stay well.
