In this edition of the APN Wire:
Hope everyone had a fantastic break this last weekend! I love this time of year! September has always represented the beginning of a busy time in the art pro world with lots to do and see. Pre-Covid included a flood of new exhibitions, art fairs, and other projects. I am excited that this September feels a little more like normal than the past year or so. Lots of new things to look forward to and figure out.
Check out the articles in this issue to see some exciting new projects and trends that are emerging in the industry. Keeping an eye on the current news is vital to finding exciting opportunities out there and getting to them before everyone else. A good example…San Francisco is going to get its own ICA and has appointed a new director. If you are an art pro looking for work in a fast-paced, exhibition-based institution, ICAs are a great place to be. Now is the time to follow and connect with people involved in these sorts of ventures so that you can get your foot in the door. Don’t be shy! Get out there!
There is also a ton of new content and classes coming out in conservation and other areas. I am loving the video series Art+Work brought to us by LACMA. Check out the latest video on works on paper treatment methods. Also, if you are not familiar with Gawain Weaver, I recommend looking into his talks and classes. I have learned a lot from attending sessions he has put together over the years.
I hope you have exciting new adventures this fall and things are happening. I also hope that you will use the momentum of this time of year to reach out and build your network, find new things to get excited about. Take this opportunity to broaden your skills so that you stay interested and involved in our community. Please let me know if I can ever add value to your path forward. Be well!
