In this edition of the APN Wire:
EXTRA! EXTRA! Read all about it! Museums are reopening!
The museum world was watching over the weekend as MFA Houston opened its doors, and it’s good to hear their plan seems to be working. I got a first-hand account from my family there and while the galleries seemed empty, the experience was very therapeutic. I know I will be watching and keeping track of what works.
I think California is a long way from opening up though and this week’s podcast is all about learning to reorient ourselves to working at home, and not fracturing our focus. I think it’s important that we all work to maintain our authority over our own time and that is going to take another level of communication.
Check out our articles to see what other museums are using as a guidepost. Also, there are articles from all over our art community including the Miami Basel, plans from Bay Area MFA programs, and the view from inside a curator’s process. It’s always good to try to see things through someone else’s lens.
For other resources, we have information on relief funds, grants for artists, and a really nice video about the conservation of a Lely piece. I hope that you will find value in this issue, and a big thank you to all of you that have reached out in the last weeks to let me know that I am helping. It is wonderful to know APN’s mission is coming through, and it really means a lot to me.
Thanks for being a part of the APN community. Be Well!
